How to read the range

  • Low retains the v5.1 lower-bound logic. The BESS point is derived from the ACEN pilot grant and may not represent a complete turnkey system.
  • Base uses Castalia’s central utility solar estimate and the v5.1 BESS midpoint.
  • High uses Castalia’s upper solar estimate and either NREL ATB or CSIRO GenCost for BESS.
  • The range is intended to prompt further inquiry on site, grid, procurement and battery use case.
05

Limits

  • Most defensible for early screening of projects at or above 10 MW.
  • The 1 to 10 MW premium is a working placeholder, not a sourced Indonesian cost curve.
  • The sub-1 MW treatment uses Castalia’s rooftop premium only as a proxy. Do not use it to price rooftop portfolios or very small ground-mounted systems.
  • It does not model grid upgrades, network studies, detailed site conditions, financing structure, escalation or a project schedule.

Assumption trail

Primary anchors and external checks

Castalia project concepts

2025 utility solar CAPEX of USD 609, 688 and 1,045 per kW, derived from Lombok, Timor and Ambon anchors using Castalia’s application of the IRENA cost decline.

BESS range

Low case derived from the ACEN Vietnam pilot grant. Base case retained from v5.1. High case selectable between NREL ATB and CSIRO GenCost.

Economics reference inputs

Castalia’s 10% WACC, 17.5% solar capacity factor and 33.3-year life are documented in the workbook. Solar fixed O&M uses the US DOE benchmark.
